6 Month Chemical Analysis Internship

REQUIREMENTS: ESPA vacancies are open to all EU passport holders able to travel to the UK for an educational work placement, without the need for visa documents. You have to still be a student or have graduated in the last 12 months. Any student who is unsure of their visa situation should check with their university before applying.

Role
The company seeks to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Chemistry student or recent graduate, who will support the work of the chief chemist in charge of the scientific research and development related to a specific technology within the company’s core product offering.
This opportunity will be attractive to students who wish to apply their specific skills and expertise in a progressive and challenging environment.
The candidate should be open to working in an exciting and engaging open innovation space, as the role will be based in a newly commissioned business incubator and workshop.
The successful candidate will work on challenging assignments and will receive the necessary training and development to achieve a successful and rewarding internship. Moreover, they will be driven to work under tight time scales whilst applying disciplined rigour.

The internship will take place in the incubator start up office near Reading with some time being spent at the global research and development centre, also near Reading (20 min’s train distance from London).
Languages
Fluent in written and spoken English (C1/ C2).
Tasks
Responsible for using analytical techniques and bespoke rig tests for developing key formulating parameters for the technology
Planned work to provide & support project milestones for developing the fundamental scientific understanding around key aspects of the disruptive and innovative technology
Using chemical skills to develop key aspects of the technology to support the sustainability credentials of the offering
Maintain written records of all experimental work in accordance with company policies
Carry out literature based research to support work programmes and tasks
Personal Skills
Essential:
Master’s Degree in Chemistry
Extensive practical skills for laboratory and rigs based work
Good analytical skills for literature based research
Desirable:
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Flexible and open-minded
